Screenshot Import
A lot of account information only appears in a text message, email, or app settings screen. You don't need to retype it — paste the screenshot and OMIMA extracts it for you.
How It Works
Take the screenshot
On your phone or computer, screenshot whatever contains the information. Copy it to your clipboard.
Paste or upload
On the OMIMA new record page, press Ctrl+V (or ⌘+V) to paste. Or drag a file directly onto the import area, or click Upload to browse.
OCR runs automatically
OMIMA reads the text from the image. This usually takes 2–5 seconds.
AI structures the fields
The extracted text is analyzed to identify accounts, passwords, URLs, expiry dates, and other structured fields — automatically filled into the right places.
Review and save
Check the results, fix anything that's off, then save. The field data is encrypted on your device before it's uploaded.
What happens to the screenshot: After OCR processing, the temporary image file is cleared. What you save is the structured data, not the original screenshot. The image is not stored on OMIMA's servers unless you explicitly choose "also save screenshot."
What Works Best
| Screenshot type | Accuracy | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| SMS notifications (activation codes, password resets) | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Clean, standardized format |
| App settings / account detail screens | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Fields visible, occasionally obscured by UI |
| Registration confirmation emails | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Contains complete account info |
| Handwritten notes or photos | ⭐⭐ | Readable but lower accuracy — review all fields |
| Blurry or low-resolution images | ⭐ | Retake the screenshot if possible |
When the Results Are Wrong
You can always edit any extracted field before saving. The AI result is a suggestion, not the final answer.
On the confirmation screen:
- Tap any field to edit it directly
- Delete anything incorrectly extracted
- Add fields that were missed
Fix first, then save.
Privacy Note
During OCR, the screenshot is sent to an OCR service for text extraction. This is a necessary step to read the image content.
OMIMA does not retain the image after processing. The temporary file is cleared once OCR completes.
If a screenshot contains extremely sensitive content (e.g., a full account number and password visible together), consider using manual entry instead, or crop the screenshot to hide the most sensitive part before importing.
Screenshot Import vs. Manual Entry
| Screenshot Import | Manual Entry | |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Fast (seconds) | Slower |
| Best for | Info that exists in a screenshot or message | Info you already know |
| Accuracy | Depends on image quality and AI | 100% (you typed it) |
| Privacy | Image sent to OCR service during processing | Data never leaves your device (encrypted directly) |
